Jay Key

/author

Born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1981, Jay Key developed an early affinity for dinosaurs, baseball, Ray Harryhausen, Japanese sci-fi, John Wayne, Buckaroo Banzai, and writing.  After graduating from TCU in 2004 with a degree in Marketing, Key bounced around from Dallas to San Francisco to Los Angeles before settling down in "The City of Broad Shoulders".  In Chicago, Key discovered the upstart gastro-pub and meeting place for all things nerdy - Geek Bar.  When Geek Bar DLC launched in March of 2015, Key knew that his Duke LaGrange stories had found a home.  After all, what better place to house the misadventures of a bounty hunter playboy and his inebriated space ninja sidekick than an online hub developed as the virtual extension of an actual bar?  Upon DLC's closing in March 2016, the idea to take Duke LaGrange to full novel-length glory was born!

Key's writing inspiration comes from what he calls "The Triumvirate" - Spider Robinson, Neal Stephenson, and the late Douglas Adams.

Key now lives in the Dallas suburbs with his wife, Shelley, daughter, Finley, and French bulldog, Olive.  He can be seen writing in some of his favorite haunts throughout the Metroplex--such as Grapevine's Buon Giorno Coffee or the Half Price Books Flagship store.
